Years ago (decades actually), we were walking along a dirt road outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and an apple tree in bloom was lit so beautifully by the early morning sun. I took some photos to try to remember that light, and this painting became of that memory and those photos. The quotes are in Yoruba, Swahili and Spanish, and reference our connections to our mothers, and all our ancestors. There are also references to the I Ching, an ancient method of divination/wisdom seeking which is related to Taoism and Confucianism.
