Pronghorn have always been a source of interest for me. They are just a little odd and very beautiful. They have always been symbolic for me of my childhood in Wyoming: I remember watching them running alongside the highway before I had the ability to describe them, so here I was exploring doing that with paint. The quote is by Carl Sagan, who was extremely influential upon me when I was young. His ability to inspire wonder in me at the amazing marvel of the universe has stayed with me my entire life, as well as his courage in speaking about the benefits of science and the dangers of superstition. The reference to 299,792,458 is the speed of light in meters per second (another homage to Carl Sagan and all of the astrophysicists out there trying to help us grasp the cosmos) and Sagittarius a is a reference to the black hole that exists at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, a source of unending mystery.
Below are some detail photos of the painting and photos of the painting in rooms as a reference.
