The emergency of creation

Mixed-media painting (acrylic, collage, ink, graphite) titled The emergency of creation. The subject is Echinacea Purpura. 36×48 inches, 91×122 cm, cradled wood panel, unframed. SOLD.  My paintings are in collections around the United States and in multiple countries.

I’ve been a gardener since I was a kid, growing up on a ranch in Texas. Mostly we grew vegetables, which was very satisfying to feel that connection with life and natural processes, but I also started growing flowers in front of our house from a young age. Beauty has always been nourishing to me. Echinacea wasn’t one of those early plants, but I’ve usually had them in my gardens as an adult. The title is from one of the collage elements in the painting and reflects what I think every artist feels about the need to create.
